Using a very sophisticated computer and software, thousands of measurements are taken and analyzed in just seconds. Using these measurements the computer generates a color topographical map detailing the exact shape and curvature of the cornea. This information is useful to evaluate and correct astigmatism, monitor corneal disease, and detect irregularities in the corneal shape. Dr. Rodriguez utilizes topography to determine whether a patient is a candidate for LASIK or any refractive surgery, fitting contact lenses, and diagnosing and managing diseases of the cornea.
