By the time that central vision is affected, glaucoma is already far advanced with almost all peripheral vision permanently depleated. A light point or grid pattern is presented in a predetermined fashion (location sequence) in a lighted bowl and the patient is asked to press a button when they see the stimulus. The responses are analyzed statistically and compared with a database of normal responses. In addition to glaucoma, numerous conditions such as stroke, other vascular diseases, and many neurological conditions can be quickly assessed through Visual Field Testing.
